 | Frequently-Asked Questions
(FAQ's) Each
week we receive inquiries about our Centers and programs. Sometimes parents just want straightforward answers to
their questions about day care and other related topics. Thus,
we decided it was important enough to include FAQ's as a regular
feature of our newsletter. Hopefully, you will find answers to your questions
here. If not, please contact us and we will gladly assist you.
Question:
How will I know if my child receives quality
and consistent care?
EDCC's Response:
Our reputation speaks for itself. We have
been in business since 1986. Our staff are professional,
experienced, and well-trained teachers, who create a safe and creative
learning environment for our students. All of our centers are
located in public elementary schools. Perhaps, the best way to
know is to ask our
clients about their experience been with EDCC. (References are
available).
Question:
What kinds of things would my child learn in
your computer center?
Our Response:
Children learn various subjects such as math,
spelling, history, science or social studies, through games and
educational software programs. We also teach our students about the World
Wide Web and give them exercises, within a secured Internet
environment, so that they understand how the
Web can be a resource and learning tool.

 | How to Choose a Day Care Center?
|
When considering a day care provider:
- Interview and observe the potential provider with your child.
 | Explore why this caregiver wants to care for
your child. |
 | How does s/he feel about this work? |
 | Is this person warm, caring, attentive, and
responsive to your child?
|
Ask the potential provider:
 | What do they like to do with children? |
 | What are their feelings about discipline? |
 | How would they handle an emergency?
|
Ask a lot of "what if" questions, for example:
 | What if my child cries all day? |
 | What if my child refuses to participate? |
 | What if my child acts out?
|
Check references and work history.
Trust you instincts! Choose a service if you and your child like
the teacher or director.
Once you have found a good provider:
 | Communicate regularly and openly about how
the child care arrangement is working for you,
your child, and your provider. |
Remember, good child care is a partnership!

 | Number of Double-Income Families
in California on the Rise |
According to a recent article from the Los Angeles Times, the rising
and flourishing economy has had an impact on families. Today, 63%
of all families in California require that both parents work full
time. Ten years ago, this figure was only 44%. With rising
costs and a booming economy, this trend is expected to continue.
